01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the charming heart of Louveciennes, Aux Chandelles offers a quintessential French fine dining experience that captures the essence of traditional “terroir” cuisine. Located at 12 Place de l'Église, this restaurant invites guests on a culinary journey deeply rooted in classic French gastronomy, far removed from fleeting international trends but steeped in timeless flavors.

From the moment you step inside Aux Chandelles, you are enveloped in an ambiance that is both intimate and somewhat romantic—perfect for a special evening that calls for good company and even better food. The décor might carry a touch of old-world charm, which some may find "a bit old-fashioned," yet it perfectly complements the authentic and hearty dishes served.

The menu honors French tradition with generous portions crafted from noble ingredients. Standout dishes highlighted by patrons include a delicate mélange of foie gras paired beautifully with scallops, a sublime estouffade of wild boar that resonates with rustic richness, and refined starters such as crisp duck and shrimp croustillant—though the latter draws mixed feelings due to its unique temperature presentation which intrigues the palate.

Each bite bursts with the pure flavors of the region, skillfully prepared and presented to showcase the best of local culinary heritage. Diners rave about the flawless balance of textures and the playful touches like the amuse-bouche and the “trou normand” palate cleanser, which elevate the meal from enjoyable to truly memorable.

Service at Aux Chandelles is consistently described as impeccable and warm, underscoring a genuine hospitality that enhances the overall experience. Whether it’s an attentive server ensuring every detail is perfect or the thoughtful wine pairings that accompany the meal, you can expect to feel well cared for throughout.

While some guests note that the seasoning can occasionally lean toward the saltier side, and the menu does not rotate frequently, this lends a reassuring consistency for those who cherish traditional French cuisine served with flair and heart. Equally notable is the exceptional value offered here—an honest, authentic fine dining outing without the intimidating price tag.

Aux Chandelles is an invitation to savor France’s gastronomic roots in a setting where every dish tells a story, and every visit feels like coming home. For lovers of classic French fare, it is a genuine gem that deserves a spot on your culinary itinerary when visiting the Yvelines region.

excellent traditional French kitchen. Excellent value. Somewhat romantic. However don't expect frequent menu changes. Don't expect best current international kitchen trends. This is "terroir" at its best.

Outstanding! Moved to Paris a year ago, and this restaurant is what I dreamed dining in France would be like. Beautiful setting, and every dish we tried was satisfying. Not terribly expensive. We spent 62€ for two of us and got more than full. We ordered and loved salmon, foies gras, beef, and macron. We'll be back!
